Educational Support Programs
As an organization we believe that education leads to opportunities and like all children Deaf children have the fundamental right to full access to quality education, we however recognize that education for the Deaf in Kenya continues to be low hence increasing the illiteracy level which has a direct implication to cause of unemployment leading to poverty.
It’s from this that we have endeavored in investing in Deaf education through supporting Deaf public institution infrastructure to support quality education and in mentorship program for Deaf pupils in school
Currently we are working with St Lukes School for the Deaf in Embu County and with support of various partners we have been able to increase school enrolment by providing extra bed in the school dormitories, improved academic performance of the pupil through providing of learning and teaching materials and engaged the pupils directly in mentorship program and club activity such as ‘Adopt a tree movement’, which currently has a membership of 600 Pupil both Deaf and hearing
We are also on the process of fundraising for refurbishing of the institution with some building being in a dilapidated state
